    Second controller devices missing

    Hi -

I'm trying to add my Rain8 controllers to HS3. I've got them configured on the config page, but I don't see any devices for the second controller.

    See attached screen shots.

I tried removing and reinstalling... No help.

    Any help would be appreciated.

I think it's a "known" bug. Another user has similar issues with their Relay 8 which uses the same plugin/protocol. See bug 1890. It would be good to add your name to it.

    Cheers

          I did.
Just looked at the bug report to see if there is an update, and I saw it it's listed as an 'enhancement'.
          That's unacceptable.

          It's broken.
          Multiple people can't use it.
How can fixing it be classified as an enhancement?

          How do I escalate this?

Add your name to the bug report and change it to Major.

I'm just updating one of my systems to HS3 and ran into this same problem with two Relay8 modules. There are no devices generated for the second unit. I absolutely require all 16 relay outputs in my system so this is a show-stopper for my upgrade. Has anyone found a solution to this?

Rain8Pro Expansion Unit - No Devices

Hi out there. Spent a day and a half mucking around with a Rain8Pro Master and Expansion model in HS3. Went up down and sideways looking for a solution and wound up here, realizing that you've experienced the same thing. Any ideas on how to get the devices built for the second controller?

                thx. Rick

I added my pleas for help under Bug 1890, and also opened a trouble ticket. The ticket was passed to the programmers May 28, but I haven't seen anything since. You might want to do the same so they know there are more of us waiting for a resolution.

No. I also opened a trouble ticket back in May and got a response that it had been forwarded to engineering. No response. I opened another trouble ticket 3 weeks ago and got no response. I emailed the programmer that is listed as being assigned to the bug. No response. I expect they are thinking that this only affects a couple people and its an obsolete product so its low on the priority list.

In my case, I need 16 relays and would like to add 16 more. Doing that with single relay modules is too cumbersome, not to mention expensive. So, my upgrade to HS3 that I bought 18 months ago is dead in the water.

I found a super little board from Numato Labs that connects by USB and has 32 relays (YES 32!) good for 12 amps AC, or 10 amps DC. It even has some other digital I/O. Price was very good ($129.95 US) so I bought one (cheaper than one Relay8 module). Board looks really good. Unfortunately, the Hometroller that I use will not load the driver for it. I guess that HomeSeer compiled XP embedded excluding the "usbser.sys" capability which is needed by the Numato board. I am going to ask if they can recompile xp embedded to include that feature, but don't hold a lot of hope.

If you're using a normal computer, it loads up fine. I tried it on XP, and also Win7. If you're not using xp embedded, have a look at this board. They also have 4, 8 and 16 relay boards. See www.numato.com

In the meantime, maybe if more of us open trouble tickets on the same problem HomeSeer will take some action to help us out.
