IP address has changed
I could not access Homeseer (my site) this morning. I discovered that Comcast has changed my IP address. This is the second time this has happened. I am wondering if others are seeing this? Is there any way to determine the new IP address if you are not at your Homeseer server? (ie you are not at home). If Comcast starts changing IP addresses as a security measure, this will make remote access more difficult!

Use Jon00's IPUpdate script. You can configure it to email you whenever your IP changes.

Alternateively, use MyHomeSeer Connect or DynDNS ( https://www.dyndns.com/ ). I personally use DynDNS so I can have a cool domain name for all my stuff at home (I am consdtantly accesing my PCs and network devices at home) but I run Jon00's script as a backup, becuase I've had DynDNS fail on me once (only once in over 4 years) when the client accidently reported a local address instead of the WAN address....

Thanks, I will check out Jon00's script. I use a lot of his scripts and I know they are excellent!!!
Before going to "my connect" or DynDNS, I will see how long my current Comcast IP address stays the same.

+1 for Jon00's IPUdate script. It works great and just emails you the new IP when it changes. I just run it every couple of hours and it's done fine by me. I did just start using NO-IP and so far it's been working very well too.

I have HS send me an email every night. One of the items in the email is my IP address (hs.WANIP).

Mike,
Excellent, I was doing this back in my dial-up days, but I forgot!!
I email my log file every day anyway; I will just include the IP address.
Thanks,
Steve Q
