Motion Sensor Plug-In Discussions relating to the DooMotion plug-in, provided by Jim Doolittle.

We are all saddened by the loss of Jim Doolittle in early April, 2010. A kind and helpful person who contributed much to our HS community. At this time we are uncertain of what will happen with his plug-ins and scripts, so if you are visiting these forums for the first time in search of support, please understand that the community of users of his software can only do the best they can to try to help.

My wife has asked me for an easy way to turn off motion detection in the house during certain times of the day. Is there a way to do this with the plugin without turning off all of homeseer or disabling the plugin altogether?

Trying to disable certain motion sensors using the following

hs.Plugin("DooMotion").GetSensorByName("Patio Motion Sensor").Disabled = True

but it does not seem to be working. Any ideas?

Solved.

Script was correct, but I began by using hs.GetPlugins("DooMotion") which crashed HS program. Rebooted and all seems to work now.

I'm not quite sure exactly what level of privacy it is you're after?

I would have thought that almost no matter what you disable the PIRs would still record entries to the log file at least (mine are X10 so any signal is blended in with the rest of the X10 devices).

What I have done is to make sure that any actions resulting from PIRs detecting motion results in CAC being fired. That way I have some control over what/when action is taken.

Personally I don't use it for privacy as such, but more to make sure that PIRs don't turn on the bedroom light at night time and so on.

Not sure if this is where you are going with your project?

Simply put, I'm trying to stop the receipt of any motion/no motion transmission from my motion senors. I have several in the house and use the ACRF plugin to receive signals from them. My wife would like to have the ability to occasionally "turn them off" so that she can walk though the house without the system recording her movements. Disabling the plugin is not that answer as the ACRF still records changes to the underlying devices regardless of the status of the DooMotion plugin. I've started another topic in the ACRF plugin forum to see if there is a way to exclude certain house codes in the plugin using script.
