Most internet providers allow you to setup several users.

Try setting up a seperate one of your HS machine and just use your normal internets smtp.

I have found that sometimes the internet providers don't like another smtp host inside there network.

Only problem is you need to have HS check for incoming mail ever so often other wise the internet provider will shut it down because of no pop activity.

It's just a suggestion but works great for my email text messages.

Sounds like the "from" email address you configured in Homeseer isn't valid. It most like has to be "from" the same domain as the SMTP server as well.

Are you sure you need mapi enabled? Do you have a microsoft mail client installed on your Homeseer machine, like Outlook?
