Extend fields in Event settings
Would it be possible to extend the fields in Events settings?
For example when I select SPEAK action, I have only 37characters field. That is absolutely useless. Nowadays we have monitors with astronomical resolutions and yet we have a single line few characters long to type our info.
That should be very easy fix. Longer fields and multiple lines. Any problem with that???
Cheers
Marty

I think he's talking about this. You can see the whole line after you update but not while you're trying to type it. Why is it your screens never look like ours?

I know I might be asking for too much.
How about adjustable columns on all the pages.
Just a thought

Thanks Marty. I was so swamped today that I didn't have chance to check the board. You are absolutely right. That is what I was talking about.
I want to see the whole text when editing it.

OK - I obviously did not make the connection at first.
The pages in HomeSeer, while sometimes containing JavaScript, are currently static HTML, so that means that without them being ASP/ASPX that we cannot have anything happen on resizing the screen after it has been drawn, and text boxes are given a fixed size.
We are planning a release that will have some UI enhancements, so I will see if we can do something about the actions so that they take up the rest of the screen, and that will allow us to make several of the fields larger.

Nope - it's simply not tolerated with our development priorities.

Automate everything, modify the rest... but remember... For every action, there is an equal and unexpected reaction.

Yeah, I am experimenting with expanding the fields - so long as it does not hurt anything and the boss approves, it will be in a future release.

Great! Thanks Rick. I'm taking back all the bad stuff I said about you!
Please let us know the version.

No need to take it back - probably all true anyway. I'm sure somebody on the MB will say them about me at some point again!
Just last night I finished running through all of the events that I could add on my dev system and everything was working fine. Much (probably most) of the text fields were doubled in size, and the speak text and email body fields were turned into text areas allowing multiple lines (besides being widened). I also moved the delete and update buttons into the same table column so that they would flow better with different window widths on the browser thus wasting less space. This should tide everybody over until we completely tear this apart for a whole new UI in HS3.
