Post Tank Level Monitoring

Hello All,

Looking for some suggestions on monitoring the level in our oil tank from HomeSeer. We also have an exterior water well and cistern which we would like to monitor the levels of. Wireless would be prefered.

Any suggestions?

Thanks,
Michael

How I do it is by putting magnets on top of the fill indicator of the tank and using a DS10A so when the fill indicator falls below say 1/4 tank the DS10A will trip when the magnet on top of the fill indicator gets down there. Has worked great over the past few years.

Ultrasonic sensors are good for measuring liquid tank levels http://board.homeseer.com/showthread.php?t=136825. The packaging is a DIY project for the low-end sensors such as the EZ1 that I referenced. Also need to be concerned about any electronics around petroleum fumes. To achieve wireless you would need RS-232/IP adapter, but then you still need a source of power.

You might want to do some research to see if you can get the following products in the US (these are for the UK)

http://www.tankdepot.co.uk/shop/32_4...uge/index.html

http://www.tankdepot.co.uk/shop/32_3...ge/index.html?

They are probably readable via the RFXCOM receivers and plugin but if not I'm sure they could be added.
