Question How to transfer to a new PC

I'm looking for the best way to move HS2 from my old PC to my new one. Does anyone know if the following steps will work?

Old PC: Windows XP Professional 32-bit
New PC: Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit
  1. In the HomeSeer interface on the old PC, go to File, Save As and save my configuration data to the current or a new .mdb file.
  2. Shut down HomeSeer (or stop the HomeSeer service) on the old PC.
  3. Install HS2 on mt new PC.
  4. Copy the .mdb file from the old PC to the new one.
  5. Start HS2 on the new PC then use File, Open to open the old .mdb file.
  6. Test, test, test, and test again.
  7. Uninstall HS2 from old PC.
Will this work?

Thanks in advance.

Thumbs up Thank you

Thanks for your response! That was exactly what I was looking for.

Honestly, I DID try searching the How-To board first.

Default How to Move just device file

I am doing a similar move, but only want to copy over my devices. What is the file name I need to copy?

I have been changing jobs and raising two teenage daughters on my own and haven't touched HS in awhile. I know I had some issues when I last used it, so I want to upgrade my pc and start over with a fresh install. But I want to be able to copy over the devices file so I don't have to reenter them. Everything else I am ok with starting from scratch - because it will get rid of some of my old mistakes.

From the web browser hit the Setup tab.
Here is mine: Current Configuration File: D:\Program Files\Homeseer 2\config\home.mdb

I didn't realize the devices were separated like that, isn't the mdb file pretty much everything, except IR codes?
