homeseer on desktop file access

i have windows xp desktop running homeseer and jon00.
everything under homeseer works smoothly, i routinely use a laptop and iphone to access homeseer functions.

however when i try to access any other files on the computer from my local network, i cannot.

eg: all my music files are also stored on the same computer running the homeseer software in a folder call desktop/d:/music.

from my laptop whenever i try to acesss -- desktop, it directs to me to the homeseer start/welcome page, i cannot browse/explore the files on that computer from my local network. now if i use a third party program like itunes/windows media player etc to play those music files, they work, indicating it is not a firewall problem.

any ideas???
