I use my HS3 as an alarm system with the following setup: Intel NUC with UPS, Pushover for notifications, GSM using SMS-gateway plugin as backup. Use PHLocation to auto ARM and front door sensor to DISARM (double locked and if someone wants to break in, they wouldn't do it through the front door!)
It also auto ARM's if sensors see no movement for half hour.
I get notifications with a second or two. Quick!
The only part I'm yet to complete is connecting my Z-wave upto my external bell box. Need to 2xoutputs for Bell & Beacon, digital input for tamper.
Also made up a couple of Raspberry Pi's with cameras using MOTIONPIE into HS3.
