windows server 2012 r2 essentials domain help

Ok guys i know a few of you are using 2k12 essentials...

I setup active directory and all.. not sure if i did it right as it has been some years since i was server ops... but anyway I cant get my computers to join the domain.

now more interesting... it seems it is saying my domain name is RiggsFamily then followed by a .local... not sure why that is so but no biggie..

when I went to join my computer.. a touchsmart with the name ummm touchsmart (yeah real complex huh) I cannot join...

so please see attached and tell me what I am supposed to join or do...
    thanks!

I have found the easiest way to join the computer to the server domain is to point the browser on the computer you want to set up to //WSEServerName/connect and let it install the connector and do all the work.

I also preferred to join all my computers to the server without joining the domain. It is a simple registry hack.

Put this in a batch file and run it at an elevated command prompt on the client computer:

    Code:
    reg add "HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows Server\ClientDeployment" /v SkipDomainJoin /t REG_DWORD /d 1

I know about the reghack... connector wont install. Think that is because of not using the reghack. Does .local look right?

Yes the .local is correct, but the domain name for joining is without the .local. It would just be RIGGSFAMILY. What kind of failure are you getting with the connector install? Mine went swimmingly on 13 computers, with the hack. I also joined a couple as domain members initially before I found the hack.

So i did the hack then the connector worked... i for some reason was then able to connect to the domain... with .local... weird but 1 connected. I did another computer and hd died.. i hate old parts....

Also putting 4 ms accounts on one machine is a pain with phone verification.....
