    EDU: Connect HS to GC with MusicPort

    Posting because it took me a bit of finagling to figure out, so, I'm helping????

    Step 1: Make sure your MusicPort works properly
    Step 2: Download PortShare http://www.opengear.com/product-portshare.html from http://www.opengear.com/download/por...etup_1.2.3.exe
    Step 3: Configure a new COM port like so

    Step 4: Set the Nuvo Plugin to use that com port

    Restart HomeSeer, bing bang boom, you're in business.

    A few questions:

    Are you running HSPRO?
    Windows 7 Ultimate OS?
    What NUVO plugin version?
    You have a Nuvo Grand Concerto?
    What is the model of your Nuvo Music Port?

    My setup refuses to work with the Nuvo Plugin.

    I had a similar com redirect program controlling via telnet.

    I can control via telnet on HS PC.

    Thanks!

      Thanks!
      Windows 7 Ultimate x64 SP1
      HSPRO 2.5.0.20
      Nuvo Plugin 1.0.0.10
      Nuvo Grand Concerto with XM Tuner, iPod Dock and
      Nuvo Music Port NV-MP with Autonomic Mirage 3.0.8087.53

      The Mirage/MusicPort software listen for serial commands by TCP/IP on port 5006 (not configurable), which is why the redirector works. But it absolutely does NOT work if you can't already control things from the server's hosted flash page.

      I have the cabling set up like: Computer->USB/Serial Adapter->Music Port->Grand Concerto
      Control of the XM and iPod happen over NuvoNet from Grand Concerto

        My config:

        Windows 7 Ultimate x64 SP1
        HSPRO 2.5.0.20
        Nuvo Plugin 1.0.0.10
        Nuvo Grand Concerto and
        Nuvo Music Port NV-MP with Autonomic Mirage 3.0.8087.53

        Hosted Mirage flash page works flawlessly

        I have the cabling set up like: Computer->db 9 serial port->Music Port->Grand Concerto

        HS com 12 redirect to localhost TCP 5006

        This is driving me crazy because everything works except the HS plugin.

          Hmmm, a couple things come to mind: check your firewall settings to make sure HomeSeer is unblocked, and make sure port 5006 isn't being blocked for some reason? try a single digit com port less than 10? try portshare instead of whatever forwarder you're using? What does your nuvo plugin config file look like? Does it even get the sources and zones?

            After a few hours of working on this I have this partially functional. Some of the problem seemed to be with the old HS2 to HSPRO directory change some time ago.

            The plugin now seems to get all the sources and zones.

            I can turn on the zones and change the sources for the zones in HS.

            This is what does not work that I know of so far:
            Can not turn off any zones and there is no volume control for any of the zones and no mute.

            My nuvo config file:
            [General]
            Zones=0
            Sources=0
            Debug=False
            [Zones]
            Kitchen=;1
            Hannah Bedroom=;2
            Austin Bedroom=;3
            Living Room=;4
            Master Bedroom=;5
            Master Bathroom=;6
            Garage=;7
            Porch=;8
            [Sources]
            SAT 1 TV 1=*21
            SAT 1 TV 2=+22
            Denon Reciever=-23
            Music Port C=/24
            Music Port B=:25
            Music Port A=;26
            [Settings]
            ComPort=12

            Does your setup seem to have full functionality?

            What does your nuvo conf file look like?

            Any other thoughts/ideas?

            Thanks!

              My Nuvo Config File:

              [Settings]
              ComPort=9
              [General]
              Zones=18
              Sources=3
              Debug=False
              Keypads=2
              [Zones]
              1=Master Bedroom
              2=Master Bathroom
              3=Office
              4=Kitchen
              5=Basement
              6=Backyard
              7=Living Room
              8=Family Room
              9=Zone 9
              10=Zone 10
              11=Zone 11
              12=Zone 12
              13=Zone 13
              14=Zone 14
              15=Zone 15
              16=Zone 16
              17=Zone 17
              18=Zone 18

              Not sure why mine doesn't list the sources like yours does, but they show up in event control. I have 4 sources, not 3. Also, I have 4 keypads, not 2. Volume control works, but I don't see a mute setting. To mute, I just pick the max value. Note: none of these are listed as a device control, just as a Nuvo Action in Event Actions.

              Can't control the XM sources or the music port.

                It is interesting that the config files differ as much as they do with the sources, zones and keypads and still function.

                I have 6 sources, 6 keypads, and 8 zones.

                My hardware is now the GC, AM/FM/Sirius Tuner, NV-MP, dual channel amp and 1 WCP.

                I suspect that HS does not process the data from the CG for the nuvo config file properly.

                I can change sources on the status page but cant turn zones off.

                I can do more control with events that I have built.

                  So, yours DO show up as devices on the status page?

                    Yes they do show as devices.

                    I can also choose each of the 6 sources for each zone under control on the status page.

                    On Off selection for the sources does not work.

                    I wish we could get this fully working.

                    It would be nice to be able to control the tuner and music port as well.

                      Weird, our systems are functioning completely differently.

                        OK... I'm missing something....

                        Which server does the PortShare application run on?
                        HS Server or the MusicPort PC?

                        Which server does the MusicPort get attached to?

                        Sorry for such a simple question.

                        Thanks!

                          I have the music port software (Autonomic MCS) and HS on the same computer.

                          My connection is from the HS computer (DB9) to the RS232 port on the Nuvo music port.

                          The only way the Nuvo plugin is ever going to work is if HS decides to finally release the source code for us to figure out what is wrong with the communication protocol.

                            Yeah, I tried it that way too, and had other issues, so I've got them running on different machines now.

                            Since I've got them running on different machines, any suggestions?
                            Does the MP need to be connected to the HS PC, and then have the MCS software using the IP port for control?

                            I agree, if they aren't going to update the plug-in, they should release the source code, so we can.

                              Set up Port Share on the HS pc as stated in the top thread. Then HS should talk to the other pc where the music port is installed. Communications will be over IP via port 5006.

                              HS has the source code available for sale now. I have not purchased the source code as I am not familiar with using Visual Studio. Hopefully someone will fix all the issues.
