    BD,
Good news! I got some useful feedback from FTDI and in my testing I'm now able to recover from the usb disconnect issue. Even when the com port completely disappears from the device manager i can get the plugin monitor restarted.

so my question is when would you have time to drop in another version to test?

        Hi Mark,

I have been running 1.2.10 since you posted it without any issues. I do not have the light turning on and off automatically, but I am back to my original on/off scheme with the motion detector, and all has been working normally. It seems the FTDI driver alone made a big difference.

I have a script set up to notify me if the port disconnects, so if/when that happens, I will report it. Great job figuring all this out, BTW!

BD, thanks for the feedback. Glad to hear it. if anything pops up, please post it on the 1.2.10 beta thread.

my guess are others are running it as well, and just waiting for the plugin to fail.

            By George, you've done it!!

I was mucking around in my laundry room and just happened to catch this in the log:

              That is amazing! I'm thrilled.

can you post a few more log entries prior to 7/18/2012 1:47:13 PM? i would like to see what led up to this point.

also, did you have any events setup based on the triggers I added? did they fire?

I am confident the log entries before that mean nothing. As shown, the Z-wave occupancy sensor tripped off, which fired the "Laundry Light OFF" event which turned off the light switch. The power energy monitors and SnevlLatitude event mean nothing, they just occured next. But you will note 1 EXACT minute later after the laundry light went off, your plugin issued the communications lost warning. Brilliant!

I have a communications non-operational trigger set. It did not fire (as it should not have). I will add a communications lost/restored event to capture this next time automatically.

In any event, put this one in the win column.

                    Mark,

                    Bad news/good news...

Bad news: The fluorescent light off is causing frequent USB/serial interface disconnects.

Good news: The disconnects are not occurring with your AD2USB plugin, they are now occurring with my new weather station USB/serial cable!!! Haha! Wish Cumulus could handle it!

                    -BD

P.S. Guess I will be addressing that ballast after all!
