    CM15A disable wireless?

    Hi.

Is there a way to disable wireless on a CM15A? (I cannot find one.)

There's a theory that the CM15A problems is connected to false wireless signals. I don't use the wireless part hence I will like to disable it to see if that's a fix.

    Regards

    Hi Morten,
the only way I cab see is removing the antenna.
Opening the box is easy, so is cutting the antenna. If you change your mind and want to reattach the antenna it requires some soldering skill.

      I think metal box. J But I prefer a software solution. K

Shielding 433 MHz is tricky, the power and USB cable still catch a lot of signal. Come to think of it, my proposal of removing the antenna won't work too well for the same reason.
A software solution is indeed what's needed.

A software solution exists for Linux:
          Citing from http://sourceforge.net/projects/mochad/files/ :
By default, received RF X10 commands are repeated on the PL interface for all house codes. This can be changed using the rftopl command (RF to PL repeater). rftopl * -- enable all house codes (default) rftopl abc -- enable for house codes A, B, and C. Disable for all others. rftopl 0 -- disable for all house codes. This is useful if more than one CM15A is in use. Leaving both enabled will result in PL collisions and redundant commands.
Unfortunately I cannot find anything similar for Windows

I took a more violent approach. I removed the Wireless module.

Now let's hope the error has gone. :-)

              A brave move indeed!
              Waiting to hear the results.

No errors so far. But it will need a couple of days to be sure.

Well that will certainly stop the reception of RF traffic!

As a note, the ActiveHomePro software apparently provides a way to disable the RF section of the CM15a. From the LINK provided by WfromL, (near the end of the page): "NOTE: CM15A macros and timers are NOT supported. For best results, use AHP (ActiveHome Pro) to clear interface memory and disable the internal RF to PL repeater. This ensures the CM15A behaves like a transceiver."
                  Best regards,

I have AHP 3.267. I suppose that feature should be available under the tab "Tools"-"Hardware configuration". Unfortunately AHP always crashes when I try to do that.
I wonder whether anyone is able to make it work?

I tried with ActiveHome Pro 3.318 before starting this thread. I cannot find a way to disable wireless.

But now it's disabled for sure. :-)

I will hate to solder it back in if I need it but it's not impossible.

2 days without error, I usually had 3-4 errors a day.

I'm close to calling it a solution.

Can you show us exactly what you removed. I might use my CM15 as a backup.

                            Hi Steve.

Pictures most be the right way. :-)

I removed the wireless module in the lid. I just cut 4 wires and attached some shrink tubing.

Still no error. I will stop checking. This is fixed.

Thanks for the suggestion WfromL. :-)
