    VitaminD ==> Sighthound and Z-Wave....

    OK, I'm trying to twist a few threads into a new thought.

    I have used VitaminD and found it to be very reliable. Just noticed that VitaminD is now Sighthound and will be developed further.

    Also, other threads on the HSM-100 lead me to believe that others have found what I have found and that batteries. z-wave, and motion sensors just don't mix. (Other than the creation of an effective agravation adapter.)

    So.... and finally a question: has anybody got experience or ideas in using VitaminD/Sighthound for both (1) motion detections without video and (2) surveillance, where video could be transmitted offsite (in real time), if there was a security lapse?

    Is this doable?

    I only use Sighthound's free Starter Edition with 1 inside Netcam in MD that's used for motion detection, so my use is quite basic. (I also use BlueIris with 7 Netcams in FL, but that's a different story!).

    As you know, it captures temporary video the whole time a rule is active regardless of whether there is a motion alarm. Upon alarm I've set mine to email me an image and save the video to local disk. I also have its Remote Access set so I can view clips from anywhere.

    To get all video offsite I am achieving near real time by using the paid version of Crashplan that has a Backup Set configured to backup the Sighthound folder every minute to the Crashplan Cloud and to one of my servers in FL. To keep the data volume under control I have Sighthound delete temporary video every 2 days and have Crashplan delete deleted files every week. Alarm video is stored until I manually delete it.

    I noticed that there's an "Export This Clip To..." feature in Sighthound that I guess works with a paid subscription, so maybe this will give you the real time offsite copy capability?
