Both companies that I have used are here in the US.

    Polymer Designs, Inc.
375 Jaffrey Road, Petersborough, NH 03458

    3D-Cam, Inc.
    http://www.3d-cam.com/services/plastics/rtv.asp

The video-synchronizer was done by Polymer Designs back in 1998, but I can't seem to find them on the internet. I'm afraid they may have gone out of business, or worse, been bought up by another company. maybe they were TOO inexpensive.

3D-Cam specializes in stereo-lithography, and I used them to turn a 3D AutoCad drawing into polyurethane enclosures. They used stereo-lithography to turn our AutoCad drawing into the pattern that was used cast the parts, using silicon molds. I liked them mainly because they were local.

Other players in the field, or just useful information:

Thank you. I will check into costs & minimums. Alternatively, I may have my friends at a liquid paint lab professionally coat a number of palmpads for me with POP friendly coatings. They could coat one with paint used on the space shuttle.... or even CARC resist paints. LOL

      Will advise.

I did find waterproof enclosure for them... Here is the info... Take a look at the pics at that website.

The waterproof enclosures that smarthome used to sell seem to be discontinued.

        Joe,
The waterproof enclosure for the X-10 handheld transmitter is Model RCE-1 and sells for $27.50 ea. and is available in sky blue, lemon yellow, or neon green. Tax (8.25% if in CA.) and shipping/handling are additional charges.

Call (818-344-4494) or email your order, American Express CC accepted.

        Marvin Friedman, Pres.
        Chardonnay Corp.
        Subject: waterproof palmpad enclosure.

I found a pic of your enclosures here http://www.mikefriedman.com/

Do you sell just the enclosure? If so, how much?

        Thanks.

          What about these??

          http://www.x10.com/automation/wireless_remotes.html

I have an 8-in-1 and some 6-in-1 OEM'd by IBM that I use around the house. They were GREAT and look a bit nicer than the palmpads. On the coffee table or the bar....or on a nightstand, they look like they should be there. PLUS, they run most TV's, VCRs', Stereo's, CD and Tape players. They are RF for X10 commands and IR for everything else. ....AND you don't need to flip the 1-8/9-16 switch! Just punch in 1-16, On, and there ya go!

I found the IBM ones on eBay a few years back for $6 each.....
          .

I have a couple 8-in-1's and have used them for years. I think it was the first X10 remote I ever bought and I still prefer 'em over most others.

The only bad part is you can't easily select a different house code.

              They also work

I have one of those around somewhere. We just are looking for something elegant for lack of a better word. We have all these nice classy interfaces available, touch screens and voice, yet the remotes are plan yuck.

Still working on some ideas though and will update you all. Just this dang job is interfering with my hobby... lol.... and I have an Elk M1 to install first.

I use a Marmitek Easytouch 35. It's IR + RF and very cheap. Features are not comparable to a pronto though.

                http://www.intellihome.be/english/pr...iew.asp?id=287

With a RF receiver, you can also control your a/v equipment from another room, because the remote always sends RF and IR simulaneously. I found this feature very easy to setup, and I enjoy not having to point the remote toward the receiver to control it.

That Marmitek is one of the nicer remotes I have seen. How many devices does it contol? Looks to me like it may be 9 or 10.

You can control any of the 16 X10 devices, but only on 1 preset house code. For example, you can type: '1' '4' 'ON' to switch ON module 14.

The good thing is that you can include X10 commands in macro.

For example you can set up macro 1 on the remote to:
                    - switch on audio amplifier (IR direct or RF --> RF infrared extender --> amplifier)
                    - switch on TV (IR direct or RF --> RF infrared extender --> TV)
                    - send J14 ON to homeseer to run an event that will dim your lights... etc.

Then you just have to press MACRO '1' for all this to happen.

[EDIT] sorry, I think I misunderstood your post. You can control up to 7 IR devices + RF X10.

                    There are 8 mode keys:
                    - TV
                    - CD
                    - Audio
                    - Sat
                    - Cbl
                    - VCR
                    - DVD
                    - X10

For each mode (except X10), you can configure 2 screens of buttons. This is the worst part of the remote, because you can choose only among 3 or 4 preset buttons for each of the 15 virtual buttons on the touch screen. There is no known way to draw your buttons yourself, or add a small label (that would be a pronto killer feature !)

The IR LEARN feature works well, and I was quickly able to learn special keys from all my original remotes.

PS: I would really like to know who is the 'real' manufacturer for this remote, because I feel there are many hidden features, not in the manual.

                    Regards,

Here is a link to the full PDF manual in case you want to browse all the features:

                      http://www.intellihome.be/manuals/EasyTouch35manual.pdf

WARNING: The links I provided point to the 433MHz version of the remote. I'm not sure if you can find a 310MHz version for use with X10 RF in the US.

By looking at the SunWave SRC-3810 review on remote central, I found so many similarities with the EasyTouch 35, that I now know who is the real manufacturer of this product.

I found that the SRC-3815 has similar RF capabilities and *should* be able to send RF 10, and control up to 16 devices.

                        See the manual here:
                        http://www.sun-wave.com/file_src/pro...-15-031021.pdf

                        It's also using 433MHz... didn't find anything about a 310MHz version.
