Default Has anyone tried the WMR968 with RFXCOM?

Has anyone tried the sensors that come with the WMR968 as it would seem very good value if they worked; even if postage to the UK were taken into account. The annonometer only seems to report every 14 seconds but over all not a bad package. currentl available on ebay for $188 (£96). They are not specifcally listed in the RFXCOM list but look very similar to the WGR800 etc.

I picked up a WMR968 but only the console. But checking the Oregon Scientific website I found this for the WMR968.
  • Sensors included:
  • WGR968 Anemometer measures wind speed and direction
  • RGR968 Self-emptying Rain Gauge measures rainfall
  • BTHR968 measures indoor temperature, humidity and barometric pressure and features an on-board touch screen LCD screen
  • THGR968 measures outdoor temperature and humidity
The BTHR968 is on the RFXCom list. Although not guaranteed, the WGR918, RGR918 and THGR918 are on the list so it is likely that the 968 versions will work. From everything I've seen the 918 and 968 sensors are interchangeable. Maybe someone else has specific experience with these.

Thanks I have rechecked the list of the Oregon Scientific format document and indeed it is mentioned I must have missed it the first time .

</TD></TR></TBODY></TABLE>

I have a concern about the wind instrument; reviews on the net suggest it reports every 14 seconds so I was wondering if this was an instantaneous reading or some sort average/max over the period was reported. I don't seem to be able to access the US Oregon site and the UK one gives very little relevant data even for the 200 series which I think reports more frequently. Ideally i would like to get rid of my 1-wire set up.

I had a WGR968 in the box that I was going to install elsewhere, but went ahead and set it up to see how it worked. It is recognized as a WGR918 by RFReceiver, and it does report data every 14 seconds. It is not installed outside or completely assembled, but it does appear that the device is recognized by the RFXCom receiver.

Thanks for that bit of info I would really be interested if, while you've access to the annanometer, give it a twerll! inside the 14s period and make sure it has stopped to see what speed it reports. The price shipped to the uk makes it great value for three sensors. Thanks again for the compatabilty report.

I think the answer to my last question is here i think i might order one even though these guys are kinda tough on oregon.

WMR-968 (June 2001): This new version of the station includes a number of enhancements to the way things are calculated or transmitted.
  • The dewpoint now is functional to 15°F. Before the dewpoint would stop operating at 20°F even though the humidity would operate to 15°F.
  • The HIGHEST wind gust, not the LATEST wind gust, is transmitted every 12 seconds when the data is fed wirelessly to the console. This solves the problem of missing high wind gusts due to the 12-second rule (the FCC limits transmission frequency at 433MHz to every 12 seconds, even though the wind instrument polls every 5).
