Angry ComPort not opening correctly ...

Hi,

If my HSPro restarts, then the comport with the Quasar attached fails to open on the HS restart. I have to disconnect the Quasar, restart HSPro, then reconnect the serial cable, and it will work fine, until the next restart!

All my other com port apps restart fine.

Is this a Quasar thing, an MCSTemp thing, or a Windows thing?!

Thanks in advance!

Dave.

Are you certain mcsTemperature has stopped before you restart HS. mcsTemperature is an .exe ActiveX so it has its own process. When I do a restart HS I have a delay to allow all associated processes time to clear out.

Beyond this I think you have to do you own problem isolation. mcsTemperature uses the mscomm.ocx provided by Microsoft to manage the serial port. It tries to open it at startup and closes it at shutdown.
